So whadda think? Was Jonah dead 4 those 3 days in the whales belly or not? I heard a sermon last night that broke it down that Jonah was dead.. said that the 1610 KJV said "Out of the belly" and not in the belly.. said that Hell was the holding place for dead people. Said that Jesus told the disciples that like Jonah he would be dead for three days.. - I am very interested in this... but should I spend time on studying this out when there is so much more to learn about perhaps more important things? I am VERY interested in this though. ???
Jonah was sent by God to preach to Ninevah to repent, but Jonah didn't want to go preach to heathens... so instead he got on a boat with heathens and headed to Tarsha's. When the storm came up Jonah had to tell all of those on board what was going on and what he was running from. after they threw him overboard the whole boat full of men repented and were saved. God knows how to make us do what He wants us to do.. so interesting.
According to the minister, Jonah would have drowned in the water and God provided a whale (great fish) to swallow the body to protect it from being eaten by preditors. Jonah's spirit is what cried out to God and after those three days the whale spit Jonah's now revived body up on shore. ...I am fixing to go reread the book of Jonah. now I have you interested, you will want to go read it too.
okay... I prayed before reading the book of Jonah 2-night and I hate to question the ministry, but I beleive Jonah was alive those three days and nights..... a dead person cannot pray. When you die, you can not repent ... you have to repent before you die. It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgement. God forgive me if I am wrong on this. The sermon was very interesting and had a lot of good points, but unless You oh Lord show me differently, I am of the strong opinion that Jonah was very much alive...
Thank God for His love and mercy and for allowing me to have another day.
