Burrrrr it is cold in Tennessee this morning, but as I looked outdoors to see all the snow that caused the schools in Chester County to close, all I could see was a very light patchy dusting. However, I have learned that one of the reasons they close schools at the threat of snow is that frankly TN people don't know how to drive in snow and that some of the curvy, hilly county roads can get quite dangerous. When we moved here from Kansas and Indiana we got so tickled at how the schools close for a snow day. When we lived in Kansas we had to get blizzards to get a snow day. In Indiana when I was growing up I walked to school and work in very sub zero windchill weather. I just bundled up, and walked with my head down to keep the frigid cold from freezing off my face. We got sick of snow. Day after day after day. But snow is a rare thing here in TN and so that is why it is such a big deal even when the possiblity of snow is predicted in the forecast. Gotta love Tennessee!
Thank God for His love and mercy and for allowing me to have another day.

Here in Wales, schools also close when there is snow, buses and trains stop running, there is no refuse collections, people panic buy and shops run out of food. It's more or less the same over the whole UK, with chaos after a couple of inches of snow. It makes me laugh because I spent 5 years living in Croatia. There life went on regardless of snow. In fact, we'd drive or catch a train out of town and go walking in the country, with the snow so deep that sometimes only the top few inches of road signs would be visible above the surface!
